American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior: Breakthrough

April 9, 2012

Before we get to the show, I hope you saw The Celebrity Apprentice last night. I have been doing a weekly recap of that show for one and only one reason: Paul Senior. And while he was in a feud early on with George Takei, it was last night where he made his greatest contribution. Here he is, acting in a commercial in a dramatic role, really stretching his chops in a role that is very foreign to him, a father.

This is why you must watch that show. Amazing! He looks so normal, so calm, so un -Paul Senior that words fail me. But you guys are never at a loss for words. Leave me your best comments and captions for that picture and I will come up with some sort of prize for the best.

American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior Breakthrough
After receiving a puzzling text from Mikey, Senior calls Junior to make amends. PJD starts a build for Newmont Mining while OCC unveils a bike for CIMA Green. Then, Junior asks Senior for a face-to-face meeting, sans cameras.

A puzzling text from Mikey? I don’t believe it, he is usually so well-thought out.

Anyway, the last time we saw Paul Senior he was not wearing a sweater or reading a book, he was stalking his sons. He went to Mikey’s “art” studio, no Mikey. Went to Paulie’s house, no Paulie. Where in the world will Carmen I mean Paul Senior show up next? Let’s watch.

OCC is still working on the double build for CIMA Green, a pair of street-legal bio-diesel bikes.

Meanwhile, Vinnie and Mikey (yeah, what a representative)  are taking a client meeting in Nevada with Newmont Gold Mining Corp, a gold refinery. They got to see gold poured into bricks, worth thousands of dollars. They were way down underground, in a mine. If your only experience with mines is with trapped miners from south America, this is way more high-tech. Mikey and Vinnie got to set off some explosives, and Mikey and dynamite is a scary combination.

Over at OCC, Senior called Rick in to decipher a text from Mikey: “U lie, stay away  from me please.” Very mature. I feel sorry for Rick getting dragged into the middle of that. Senior manages to come across as sad and sympathetic but then you need to remember this:

PJD’s mining bike is going to incorporate tools and mining equipment. Paulie wants a rugged, tough looking bike.

Meanwhile, if it were not for cell phones where would the Teutuls be? Paul Senior left Paulie a message saying that he had tried to see him and, more importantly, that he loved him. How will Paulie respond? The episode description seems to have given it away: Junior asks Senior for a face-to-face meeting, sans cameras.  No cameras. Smart move.

Meanwhile, a mystery at PJD: who broke the hydraulic press? Vinnie suspects Cody and Petey. Cody denies any knowledge but he implies it is Pete. My own mystery: who is this Petey kid? But who is on the case? Mikey. After all, there is nothing else for him to do.

BTW: It is 9:45 and as usual, the big tease remains just that, a big tease. As usual discovery builds a show around some sort of family tension and then ignores it for most of the show.

Also BTW: You might want to stick around because next is the debut of the new Jesse James program, Outlaw Garage. Seriously, you knew his appearance in the build-off had to lead to that.

9:51. Commercial break. Still have not seen Paulie’s reaction to Senior’s message.

9:54. The bio-diesel bikes get unveiled.

9:57. Paulie finally listens to the message. He decides to see his father in person. About time. anyway, he leaves Senior a message and it just begs the question, do any of them ever answer their phone?

NEXT WEEK:
American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior A Meeting is Set
OCC starts a 1970’s themed build for MyPillow while PJD puts the finishing touches on a bike for Newmont Mining. Then, there is promise that all the family drama could finally end as Senior and Junior agree to meet in person.

BUT THE BIGGER NEWS: Deadliest Catch premiers tomorrow!

Thanks. I really wonder what his kids thought seeing him like that.

Something to keep in mind…there are probably new fans who watch Celeb Apprentice who will now watch OCC, and they only know one Senior — a calm, loving father who just wants this sons home. A brilliant pr move by Senior all along.
I actually thought Mikey came off a bit more coherent this week and seems to be possibly losing some of his weight?
Totally agree with you about Rick. What a standup guy and what an ass Senior is to drag him in front of the OCC cameras and put him on the spot.
By the way, where was Jason? Don’t get me wrong, it was great not seeing him, or more importantly, hearing from him…
