My brother has been sending back some simply amazing pictures from his tour of Japan. Over the next few weeks I will be showcasing some of my favorites. I decided not to do them in any particular order so each set of ten will feature a cross-section from across the country. I think they represent, in some small way, the variety of Japan. Please enjoy this first set.

Those stores with the red exclamation mark used to have really good burgers to go.

The bullet train looks almost like an elongated, wingless version of the ” Viper ” attack craft from Battlestar Galactica ( either version ). There’s a photo of the Golden Temple on my issue of ” The Empty Mirror “, the book that I mentioned in my previous comment.
Manga Museum – Probably a must – see for anybody who’s seen a lot of Pokemon, Dragonball Z, Inuyasha, Full Metal Alchemist, etc ( Guiltyyyyyy !! – at times ).

Some countries have technological marvels, others have ancient traditions, some have customs that don’t even seem from this planet, others have huge cities, some have breathtaking landscapes, others are well defined, some are a mixture of cultures, others have fascinating art, others compelling entertainment, some have a peculiar population, others odd customs, etc.
The thing is, Japan has all of the above and more. It might be good or bad depending on how you look at it, but it’s certainly more stunningly unique than any other country in the world, from every possible point of view…
