I think Netflix recommendations are mostly based on a Daoist / Zen approach. I LIKE their selection of foreign / Indie movies, but they assume that because I ordered ” House of 99 Daggers ” or ” Taken “, I’m going to like ” Kung Fu Panda “, ” Kill Bill ” & / or ” Little Nemo ” & ” Grindhouse “. Guess they’re basing their recommendations on my 1st picks w / them….. Or they’re smoking some strange herbs ;).

Netflix IS carrying such a diverse collection of foreign & indie selections that hulu is offering ” hulu Plus “, & YouTube is now RENTING movies to keep up the competition.

YouTube is renting movies??? My TiVo gets Netflix and they just started offering Hulu so I can’t see myself bothering with YouTube rentals.
My only problem with Netflix is that a lot of the time something I want is only available on disc and I want it instantly. Their recommendations can get a little strange sometimes.

Aye, ye heard right, me lad. I can’t really see myself renting someone’s anthology of viral videos or even clips of Harlan Ellison’s ” Dreams with Sharp Teeth ” ( Available on DVD ). Strangely enough, I’ve encountered several movies that I can only get via streaming video to my computer.

I think they have computer software that just kind of spits out random recommendations w / out a human in the loop. That w / account for some of them. I should visit my queue & test that theory.
        At $ 8.95, it ain’t that bad…..

To be fair, Ken Burns’ Baseball is an amazing documentary, and I don’t even like baseball.

You don’t need to tell me, but the zombie just can’t relate.

Zombie sound more like love – child of She – Hulk & Bizarro ! LOL 😉 😀 Or maybe She – Hulk have threesome with Bizarro & Solomon Grundy. 😉

There are some things I’d rather not picture, and that’s now on the top of my list. 🙂

All I really know about the zombie is that he was once an accountant, then a “voodoo man” put a curse on him and now he’s the mostly-sedentary undead creature we know today.

            MWahahahahaaaaaa !

Does the zombie use Quicken or Quickbook, since he was an accountant ?

Partial to vampires myself. Not those blood – sucking ” Twilight ” pixies that GLOW, either. Serious vampires like Dracula, LeStat, Barnabas Collins, Aidan on the US version of ” BEING HUMAN “. I did some research into vampire lore, seriously, just from curiosity.

Love Dark Shadows, I’m near the end of the series.
The zombie’s life as an accountant is a bit of a mystery. The part of his brain that held the long term memories fell out.

I remember the original Dark Shadows, didn’t they try a remake a few years back ? There were a few made – for – tv movies based on the series, I recall that much.

Part of the zombie’s backstory – he likes Sarah Palin. But not Ann Coulter, even though she looks undead. 😉

      JRD –

I loved ” Field of Dreams ” ( Had it on VHS, back in the day ) & I’m NOT a big sports fan, which is odd considering that I live in TN, which has the Volunteers & the Titans, & sports is practically a RELIGION.

I’m thinking about adding nothing but sci – fi / fantasy or several Bruce Willis pictures to my queue & seeing what recommendations they toss my way. Or just order ” Pulp Fiction “,” Kill Bill ” & maybe ” Grindhouse ” over & over again for 2 months to see what recommendations I get. 😉

        Let me know what happens!

I was never crazy about Field of Dreams, but I think my problem is with Costner, not the film.

Or I could order straight documentaries & nothing else for 2 – 3 months. Or Bollywood. Their movies are like perpetual, nearly unbroken old – school dance numbers.

Costner = Waterworld. Meh. Or maybe FEH ? 😐

I remember Kolchak. I also liked ” Night Gallery ” in the 70’s,even though it was DARKER in tone than ” The Twilight Zone “, & the ” Twilight Zone ” remake in the 70’s / 80’s was pretty cool.
