Conway Twitty in the News.

There is a lot to talk about here, not the least of which is that stupid fight, but what interested me that most was not the article but the size of the accompanying picture. Look at that thing! It is bigger than the article! It is almost as big as his hair! The only guy with bigger hair is Gary Spivey, and his is Styrofoam or cotton candy or something.

Someone at Bay News 9 must be a big Conway Twitty fan. So is Seth McFarlane, creator of Family guy. Coway Twitty performance footage has appeared on that show many times. For no particular reason, a character will turn to the screen, announce “Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Conway Twitty!” and then a lengthy clip of him performing a song will play. Not just a clip, sometimes an entire song will air.

In the DVD release of the Family Guy parody of The Empire Strikes Back, they introduced Darth Twitty.

I don’t see how he fit all his hair under that helmet. I’m sure this is really helping his career. Too bad he died in 1993.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Conway Twitty!

I love it that the fight erupted in a trailer.

Then again, here is Peoples’ Exhibit A:

I had never encountered Gary Spivey before my first reading of this article, and, since then, I’ve been wondering why he looked so familiar.

I believe I’ve figured it out:

Um, Ok. I am sure you must be talking about the two guys in the article, because other than the fairly tame comment about his hairstyle this wasn’t insulting at all. And yes, I think the article and the Family Guy stuff are funny.
