The Saturday Comics: Comic Con Mutts

20 Jul

July 20, 2013

Every year, Mutts, my favorite modern, currently running comic strip, does a series of strips celebrating the San Diego Comic Con. Next week I’ll be presenting this years crop of comics, featuring the squirrels Bip and Bop. But first, I re-present the strips from the past two years. Enjoy!

The Saturday Comics: Mutts

Mutts is a wonderful strip that I hope you are reading. Patrick McDonnell has been chronicling the lives of Earl and Mooch, Ozzie, and all their friends since 1994.  Charles M. Schulz, the creator of Peanuts, was a fan of this strip, saying that it’s “one of best comic strips of all time.” And that is as good an endorsement as you can get.

In the following strips, Patrick McDonnell, to celebrate the San Diego Comic Con, paid homage to some favorite comic book characters. I hope you like them, and I hope you check out his strip (if you don’t already) in your local paper or http://muttscomics.com/
