Imponderable #35: Coll

For comparison, this is where I live:

For the record, I have never been mugged or assaulted. I have never been robbed or menaced. And I ride the subway everyday.

But I am not here to talk about how crime-ridden NYC is, far from it. The crime rate is pretty good here, assuming you stay out the neighborhoods where you know damn well you should stay out of at night.

The little island of Coll off the Scottish coast. Full of leprechauns and four-leaf clovers, faeries too, I’d bet.

But seriously, I bet Coll is a boring place. Safe sure, but boring. On the other hand, they have clean public toilets and violence-free pubs. Hmm, maybe it is worth a shot after all.

Especially since with the non-existent crime rate, no one will be taking a shot at you.

What must daily life be on an island where there is no crime but plenty of ale?

The question is Imponderable.

Yeah it’s a huge tradeoff. If you live on an island with 219 other people everyone would know what you are doing all the time.
