Old-School Fashion: Never In Fashion

21 Jan

I usually hate to admit that there are other websites out there. There’s Mr. Blog’s Tepid Ride, The Christian Science Monitor, and lots and lots of naughty naughty sites. But I have to be honest, sometimes, just this once, and say that yes, I do go to other sites. For example, I followed a Facebook link to Awkward Family Photos. The best I can say about them is that they used to be a lot funnier. But I was bored and around the fourth of fifth page I found this old article. (No, not an old-time article “ye,” but a newspaper article.)

Wow, remember when little televisions were cool and state of the art? And an AM/FM radio too? Awesome! But the sasquatch on the left? Never in style. He is clearly wearing a dog on his head. And the rest of the outfit? Obviously from the Herb Tarlek Collection at Mr. Polyester.

Laugh if you will, but that style is not limited to real or imagined newsmen.

Superhero Team-Up: Batman & Spider-Man & Spider-Man

Times Square can be a dangerous place. Good thing it is being patrolled by superheroes like Batman and Spider-Man. But what happens when the heroes turn bad? When the good guys are the villains? Who watches the watchers? Fortunately for us, it is a pair of fanny-pack wearing Spider-men.

Have no fear! The video is here!

While I don’t believe for a second that Spider-Man would wear a fanny-pack, I have to admit that he has it very strategically placed. And if you look closely, the other Spider-Man is wearing red rubber rain boots.

A particularly Dark Knight.
A particularly Dark Knight.

I’m glad The Sympathetic Spider-Man was there, and his clone, to defuse the situation. Not long after this, The Joker threatened to blow up City Hall and Batman just made it in the nick of time to disarm the bomb and take The Joker back to Arkham.

The Spider-Men, meanwhile, hopped on the subway and got mercilessly teased by a bunch of teenagers on the IRT.
