Picture Postcard: Lonely Soldier

2 Aug

August 2, 2011

I took this picture some months ago. This is a breakwater in Lower Gravesend Bay here in Brooklyn.

I’ll admit it isn’t the greatest picture I ever took. I was standing on the seawall and looking down from about ten feet up. Notice anything unusual? You might not notice anything at first, but take a look at the thing sitting on the rock in the center of the shot.

It is some sort of small figurine. You can clearly see the base. I snapped this with my cell phone so the resolution isn’t the best but it is not a rock. It is a small figure that someone deliberately placed there. I don’t know how long it has been there, but it is so small that the tide will surely wash it away. I was just standing by the water, looked down, and there it was. Keep in mind that this is not a beach. This is a seawall the end of a street behind a shopping center. There is no access unless you hop a fence and climb down and over those large rocks.

Picture Postcard: Rock Video Girls Meet The Autons

I didn’t take this picture, it is another one from Forgotten NY but when I saw it my blood ran cold.

Oh no, this is more than just a picture of some half-naked mannequins, this is the beginning of the end. It is the beginning of a full-scale invasion, led by a washed up rock star allied with the Nestene Consciousness.

Remember Robert Palmer? Sure, he’s a has-been now but once upon a time he was the frontman for a pretty scary group of hot rock-video robots.

Now they’re back with one thought in mind: World domination. This isn’t the first time the Nestene have tried to take over the Earth with their store-dummy Autons, but fortunately they were beaten back.

Add in Robert Palmer and some partial mannequin nudity and I am very, very afraid.

We’re doomed.

I’d love to post a link that will play here but they are really fussy about it. Sorry. After the invasion you’ll see more than you can stand.
