I’ve been listening to The Rat Pack, Live At The Sands because turning 50 this year just isn’t old enough. This recording features Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr. in a live performance from 1963. This is the best known and most famous (and talented) version of The Rat Pack, a group which started around 10 years earlier with Humphrey Bogart.
This is just flat out fun. Get it. If you need me to tell you what these guys are all about then you need more help than I am prepared to give.
Sinatra: The best pure singer of the group
Martin: The best all-around entertainer
Davis: The most talented in the Pack
Also members but not on the CD, since they don’t sing:
Peter Lawford: Why?
Joey Bishop: Meh
I’ve been trying to start my own Blog Pack, but Martha Stewart won’t return my calls.
.
Concur! Sinatra used to be like a crucifix to a vampire for me but now I keep liking his stuff more and more. Hope it’s not because of getting older–I might end up liking disco someday!
