Picture Postcard: The Water Drop World of Markus Reugels

March 1, 2012

I found this great photo online and I had to share it.

You can read the full story of this amazing reflection in a drop of water by clicking the link and going to Livescience.com.

Markus Reugels can capture the world in a drop of water, not to mention Venus, Mars and the moon. Reugels is a floor installer and hobbyist photographer in Marktsteinach, Germany, but “hobby” doesn’t begin to convey the beauty and precision of his photographs of images reflected in tiny, perfect globes of water.

He doesn’t just do reflections, check out some of his high speed photography:

Amazing stuff.

Picture Postcard: Downtown Brooklyn

23 Feb

February 23, 2012

Don’t look for great compositon here. These were taken on a cell phone camera while avoiding cars and looking for breaks in traffic.

This was taken across the street form where I work, downtown Brooklyn. There has been an amazing amount of construction and big business development. The riveted tin can-looking thing on the left is the edge of a new skyscrapper and yes, it is all condos.

What caught my eye, as it probably did yours, is the top of the building in the center. It seems to me as if it is an orphan, the odd left-over relic of days and buildings gone by. It was apparantly connected to some other buildings, now it is just a lonely, strange, edifice.
