Remember kids! Professor Apple Dog says, “an apple a day will keep the veterinarian away.” We here at Mr. Blog’s Tepid Ride hear that goes for doctors as well.
I saw this life-sized (life-sized if the dog were a man, that is) sculpture in an office building lobby in lower Manhattan. There was no explanation and no artist credited. I think it speaks for itself. It’s an anthropomorphic dog holding a giant apple. Simple!
And if you like talking animals, check out our own Pierre D. Duck over on Facebook.
I miss getting to wander around Manhattan. we had such a fun time out there. There’s so much interesting things, such as this, to see everywhere.

Near your hotel was a building with a Popeye statue in the lobby but the door was locked and my picture through the window is blurry.

Ha! Pretty interesting. I wonder what the significance of Popeye is for them.

I wish this would let me put a photo here. It’s about 5 feet tall on a 1 foot pedestal in a typical Popeye pose. One arm is making a muscle and there is a can of spinach in his other hand, but roses are coming out of the can.

I’ve seen my share of art, but the meaning of this keeps eluding me in spite of my efforts… However, there’s a sentence that keeps forming in my mind every time I look at this photo: “Leave my apple alone, you doghead!!!”
Might that be the meaning, after all?

Some art is what you make of it. The only thing that occurs to me is maybe that big Apple represents The Big Apple, New York City. The rest? Beats me.
